Training Youth In Healthy Lifestyles

Twenty-five students from the Albena Lake-Hodge Comprehensive School in Anguilla and other young people from St. Lucia, St. Vincent and St. Kitts, began a three-day Healthy Lifestyles Workshop here on Tuesday.

The workshop, hosted by the Anguilla Government, was organised by the Commonwealth Sports Development Programme in conjunction with the Organisation of Caribbean Administrators of Sports and Physical Education and the Caribbean Netball Association.

The workshop, under the theme “Your life, your health, make it right”, was designed to focus on many “facts of life” involving young people. These include the practice of healthy habits, sporting activities, public speaking, sexuality and other areas of personal and social development.

The facilitators were Kathy Harper-Hall and Mona Allyene of Barbados and Theophelia Charles of St. Lucia, who were among the speakers at the workshop’s brief opening ceremony.

Other speakers included Acting Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Social Development, Dr. Bonnie Richardson-Lake, and Director of Sports, Alkins Rogers.
