| Publishing date: 05.03.2004 11:11 |
Grade six students from the seven primary schools in Anguilla are being exposed to the banking and financial sector. This has come about as part of the Eastern Caribbean Central Union Financial Literacy Programme in the eight member territories.

“We are giving them a tour so that they can know about National Bank, banking and how our financial service industry works,” said NBA’s Manager for Marketing Research and Business Development, Pamela Riley. The bank arranged the tours for the school children for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of last week and again on Monday and Tuesday this week.
“We are explaining how the ATM works, how our night bag service works, and how our loans, savings and other departments function,” she observed at one point of the tour.
Two students from the Stoney Ground School had comments on the tour. “It is helping us because in the near future some of us may want to become bankers,” said Meesha Richardson. “It is therefore best that we learn more about what we hear and see around us at National Bank. What I like about banking is that it is not just work; you cooperate with the people around you and you also have fun doing banking.”
Javed Tyrone Woods remarked: “I am enjoying walking about seeing people doing savings and other business. Some of the good things I am hearing about National Bank is that everything they do they are trying to perfect it…and the bank is developing more and more and everyone in the bank is friendly.”
