The Anguilla Tennis Academy, in association with the Anguilla Tourist Board, will be launching a dedicated “Buy a Brick Campaign” in support of the new, state-of-the-art facility to be built in Blowing Point.

The “Buy a Brick Campaign” has been conceptualised as an effective means of involving the host community in the development of the project, thus ensuring its sustainability for generations to come.
“If the people of the island are not intimately involved in a project of this nature it becomes easy for them to see it as another development project being spearheaded from the outside. This Sports Complex is primarily about the children and the people of Anguilla, and if they are to feel a part of it, they must “own” it, in every sense of the word. This is what sustainability is really all about,” said President of the Anguilla Tennis Academy, Mitchell Lake.
In declaring the support of the Anguilla Tourist Board for the campaign, Chairman John Benjamin stressed the importance of developing all relevant avenues for the success of tourism, and pointed out that our culture, heritage and sports have an important role to play as Anguilla continues its pursuit of festival and sports tourism.
The “Buy a Brick Campaign” will kick off on Saturday December 13th as part of the Christmas Tree Lighting at The Valley. Anguillians will have the opportunity to purchase a brick on that evening, and every day thereafter until Christmas Eve, December 24th, by coming in to the Anguilla Tourist Board Offices. A telethon will also be held at the ATB office grounds on Saturday December 20th.
The entire Anguillian community is urged to get involved in the programme and give the gift of a brick this Christmas and help to ensure the sustainability of the Anguilla Tennis Academy.
