The Optimist Club, Anguilla, presented a cheque of US$496, on Wednesday of this, to the Principal of the Island Harbour Primary School to purchase books for the school library.

The gift was in response to an appeal made by Pansy Richardson, the Principal. Representing the Club were Avon Carty, one of the Vice Presidents of the Club and Gina Hodge, Chairperson of Fellowship and Programmes Committee.

Mrs. Richardson explained that the Optimist Club is one of many contributors towards improving the standard of literacy at the Island Harbour Primary School. Past contributors towards the same programme included: Social Security Board; Palmavon Webster of Webster, Dyrud Mitchell; Quincy Gumbs of Fair Play Management; Hamlet Harrigan of Island AutoParts; Mr. and Mrs. Griffin Webster; and Maria Hawkins of Arawak Beach Inns.
