GET ISLAND HARBOUR CLEAN

Dear Sir,

I am so thankful that the Government, in conjunction with the Environmental Health Department, has taken the initiative to remove the bulky waste from the island.

Two years ago, I played hostess to some visiting friends and family from abroad. One of our activities was an island tour. Well, I was pleased to show off my island until I got to Island Harbour. What an eyesore! I was so ashamed of the condition of the yards along the roadside, with so many old rusting vehicles, that I vowed to change my route if ever I had to give a tour again.
Last week I passed through the village again and realised that nothing had changed: still dirty and derelict! I mentioned the state of the place to a friend who told me that it gets worse if you turn off the main road and go into Island Harbour proper.
I suggest that the Environmental Health Department get up there quickly. I suggest that the community band together and have a cleanup campaign. I suggest that the home owners in question clean up their yards.

A. Richardson
