Once again young persons in Anguilla will have the opportunity to learn the game of tennis and improve their skills. The two-week camp for children aged 7-17 years starts on July 14. It is being organized by Mitchelle Lake with several coaches from the USA visiting Anguilla for the occasion.

The Anguilla Tennis Academy was founded in 1996 by Mitchelle Lake who says his aim is to expand on the successful seven year history of the Anguilla Tennis Academy, while providing the highest quality tennis instruction and tournament play to youth in Anguilla, the Caribbean and others from abroad.
The first week of the camp will be held at the Webster Park tennis courts and the second week at Malliouhana Hotel, Carimar Beach Club, Tenemos Villas and Cocoloba. The first week is for juniors from Anguilla and surrounding islands while the second week is open to all players from any country. Each player will participate in on court drills and match play from Monday to Friday. There will be a Junior Championship for players from ages 10-17 during the week of July 23-26.
Top quality coaches will be in Anguilla for the camp. This year’s team includes Chris Wade from Texas, Bill Riddle from Tennessee and Jonathan Collazo from the University of Southern Florida, all of whom were here for the last year’s camp . Several other coaches from the USA are expected to join Lake and Marvin Hazel from Anguilla. Lake is a PTR certified tennis professional who graduated from Gardner-Webb University in 1999 and is a proud Anguillian and advocate for young children. Riddle is a PTR and USPTA Certified Tennis professional who has taught and coached tennis for the last sixteen years. He is at present the Managing Director of Tennis & Sports Complex for the Bluegrass Yacht and Country Club in Nashville, Tennessee.
Registration forms for the camp are available at schools and there is a fee of US$25.00 for each participant. The fee is to cover costs incurred during the two-week session. Each participant will receive a t-shirt and a certificate and tennis rackets will be available for those who need one. Interested persons should register early to make sure of a place this year in the popular camp.
