BUSINESS SECTOR TOLD OF TELECOMS CHANGES


Businesses in Anguilla have been told about the recent changes in the telecommunications market in Anguilla following steps towards liberalisation agreed between the Government and Cable & Wireless.

A large number of business leaders and other persons turned up at a breakfast forum at Cocoloba Beach Resort on Wednesday May 7 at which Cable & Wireless local General Manager, Sutcliffe Hodge, gave a power point presentation on a number of pertinent issues.

His presentation covered the phased agreement towards full liberalisation of the telecommunications market after one year, allowing other providers to offer internet, mobile and other services to the public.

He explained the new tariff structure and other arrangements which will be introduced from next month, by Cable & Wireless and emphasised the company’s continued commitment to top quality telecommunications services. He stated that the liberalisation process had give the company an opportunity to provide better services for its valued customers and that it was not afraid of competition in any of these services Mr. Hodge’s presentation was followed by a lively question and answer period and by the serving of breakfast for those in attendance.
