The artists are Paula Walden; Marge Morani, Georgia Young, Peg Gregory and Beverley Seal. “We all contributed our time with no charge to the students and we were very lucky to have Margaret Thomas, a resident on the island, donate the material so we were able to buy the water colours and acrylics and so on. We all donated paper and had a wonderful time,” Paula Walden told The Anguillian.
Four of the students who were available at the Art Studio made the following comments: Nathalie Hawkins (Form 2 Albena Lake-Hodge Comprehensive School): “I like to paint and draw. I enjoyed coming to the class and would like to thank all my teachers.”
Krystal and Krystie Webster (First Form students): “We found it interesting painting with acrylics because it was fun using the knives as well as drawing the cartoons. We all had fun and thanks to our teachers.”
Roxanne Webster (Grade 5 Valley Primary School): “We had an opportunity to see some interesting paintings done by the artists who taught us and we love the cartooning and the paintings we did with their help.”
The other youngsters who attended the art classes were Drexel Davie and Jason Hodge who are out of school and were not present at the Art Studio at the time.
In an arrangement with the Art Studio, The Anguillian will be publishing over the next several weeks some of the cartoons drawn by the young people.
