The Editor,
The Anguillian
Dear Sir:
YACHT REGATTA HAILED
I read with much interest your report about the upcoming International Yacht Regatta to be held in Anguilla towards the end of next month and congratulate all who are making this possible including John Benjamin, the island’s Chairman of the Tourist Board and his working committee.

I must say that it is a novelty idea for Anguilla to bring in the big racing yachts to the island and tying them in with the activities involving the famous sleek racing boats that your people have become famous for over the years. I am a boat-racing fan and enjoy this national sport in Anguilla during the summer and at other times in the year when I visit from Florida with my family and friends.
I am coming to Anguilla a bit earlier this year to be in time for this joint racing sport. I have been all the way in Monte Carlo, Monarco, to witness the races organised by the Yacht Club there. It is a tremendous tourism and cultural activity and to have the club’s promotional involvement in the race in Anguilla involving yachts from the surrounding islands, as I understand it, will help to underwrite its success from the start.
I think Anguilla has a wonderful opportunity to promote its boat-racing sport and to extend it beyond the island to other places and boats, yet preserving its own unique cultural heritage.
