POSITIVE TOURISM FORECAST FOR ANGUILLA

The outlook for April is positive. So says Anguilla Tourist Board officials, based on an informal telephone survey of the major properties on the island.

According to the survey, the average occupancy rate for the 13 properties polled stood at 65.15%. At least 46% of the properties had bookings of between 80% and 92.5%, while 23% had registered numbers between 75% and 50%. Of the 13 properties polled, 4 properties continued to struggle, with bookings of 43% or less.

The results of the survey confirm that despite the reality of war, people are still prepared to travel. While there were a number of cancellations immediately following the declaration of war, this trend has not increased significantly, according to the properties surveyed.

Meanwhile, the Anguilla Tourist Board has expressed full support for the members of the AHTA in their efforts to provide a unified response to the uncertainty associated with cancellations arising out of the war. The ATB, for its part, remains committed to taking Anguilla’s tourism forward, and will continue to promote the island as a tranquil, serene haven, the ideal vacation spot for anyone wishing to escape from the stress and strain of these trying times.
