Seasonality Workshop Begins January 30


A workshop has been scheduled for January 30 – February 1, 2003 for the mid market and budget properties on the island in particular. The workshop is aimed at enhancing the quality of the product as well as the promotion and distribution efforts of the properties so as to ensure the highest levels of visitor satisfaction and financial success for the properties.

Topics will cover the four broad areas of the marketing mix (Product, Price, Promotion and Place) and will include the following:

* How to enhance individual product offerings;
* Pricing strategies that benefit both the customer and the business;
* Cutting edge approaches to selling and distribution of tourism products;
* Making the most of the internet;
* Forging strategic alliances and making them work

A special presentation will be made by Phil Paranicas of Vision Marketing the designers of Anguilla’s web page. He will devote his time to discussing with participants the vast potential of the internet and how they can maximise its use. In addition, other presenters will include Kas Vaughn, Anguilla Tourist Board US Representative; Claudel Romney KPMG; Sue Ricketts, Cap Juluca Hotel.

The Seasonality and Occupancy Sub-Committee of the Toruism Marketing Alliance is encouraging all property owners in these segments of the accommodation sector to take advantage of this great opportunity. To cover the cost of the workshop including lunch, morning and afternoon refreshment breaks, materials etc a contribution of US$99 is being requested of participants.

The Tourism Marketing Alliance (grouping of stakeholders in the tourism industry) was formed in October 2002 to assist the Anguilla Tourist Board in is efforts to develop and promote tourism in Anguilla.
The group met in October to look at the issues, opportunities affecting Anguilla’s tourism. A number of sub-committees have since been established to look at areas including the environment, transportation, training, seasonality and occupancy.
