Anguilla Featured In Tourism Publications |
Anguilla continues to receive exposure in its major markets with the release of articles and reports from journalists who visited the island over the past few months.
The September 2002 issue of Nautica magazine, an Italian publication, featured a six page story, complete with photos, which focused on Anguilla’s nautical heritage, and the exciting national sport of the island, Boatracing. The article was written by journalist Carlo Piccinelli, who visited the island in May as part of a joint press trip between Anguilla and St Martin which was coordinated by Anguilla’s Italian representative, De Paoli and Associates, and the St Martin Office du Tourisme in France, with assistance from Air France and Rendezvous Bay Hotel. Meanwhile, DePaoli and Associates have also announced the inclusion of Shoal Bay in the Hit Parade of the 10 Most Beautiful Beaches of the World. Anguilla’s inclusion comes as a result of ATB Italy’s year-long cooperation with Touring Club Italiano, the publishers, and with GIST, the Association of Italian Travel Media. The book, which is entitled, “10x10: The 100 Wonders of the Sea”, will be presented to the media this month, before going to bookstores throughout Italy.
The October 13th, 2002 issue of the Sunday Maine Telegram presented Anguilla as “A Place to Relax” in an article submitted to some 140,000 subscribers by Professor Charles L. Mitsakos, a professor of Education at Rivier College in Nashua, New Hampshire. He visited the island with his wife, and was so enamoured that he wrote a comprehensive destination piece, featuring not only the Cuisinart Resort and Spa, and the exceptional accommodations, cuisine and warm, personal service that they experienced, but also highlighting various aspects of the island vacation including the warm welcome they received from Immigration and Customs, the unique treasures that can be found in Anguilla’s intimate boutiques and art galleries, and a one-of-a-kind dining experience at Scilly Cay. Professor Mitsakos’ article was also featured in the November issue of the AAA Merrimack Valley News, with a circulation of 125,000.
Anguilla is also featured in the November 2002 issue of RECOMMEND Magazine, one of the top Travel Agent publications in North America. The on-site review of Anguilla was prepared by Publisher/Editorial director, Laurel A. Herman, who touted the island as “an idyllic escape, an ideal getaway for clients looking to rid themselves of stress”. The article highlights some of the things you may choose to do while on the island, and recommends a number of places to stay and dine should one choose to send clients to Anguilla. Miss Herman’s visit was coordinated by Keating Public Relations, with assistance from American Airlines and Cap Juluca Hotel.
The Anguilla Tourist Board continues to work closely with its representatives in the market place to facilitate individual and group press travel as a means of raising awareness of the destination in its major markets.
