During the past year the Club has been very active. The Club has been working with WISE (Workshop Initiative in Support of Education) and purchased complete kitchen equipment to facilitate cooking lessons for the students. Work in the community has also included funding mammograms for women recommended by the clinics and a campaign to reduce the use of plastic bags has been started and will be extended during the coming year.

The Club has also been running classes for Spanish persons wanting to improve their English and given talks to teenagers on health, drugs and other issues. Several fund raising efforts have taken place including the Christmas Fair, an auction, concert, and several lunches and coffee mornings. Maintenance of the Day Care Centre is one of the major expenses for the Club and it was stated that more fundraising events will be needed this year.

Outgoing President Alison Carty thanked the executive and members for their support and outlined some of the strengths and weaknesses of the club. She suggested that if members combine the work with a little pleasure, things will get done. She also said that club business should be discussed and members must listen respectfully to each other’s point of view. She thanked the members for the honour of serving as President and urged all members to be committed and to give the new President their support.

Stella Horsford was installed as President by Patron Mrs George. Stella congratulated Alison on her year as President and thanked members for their confidence in electing her to the position. She said that she hopes to see members working more in the community to raise the profile of Soroptimism in Anguilla. She encouraged everyone to help each other, to work hard on projects while also enjoying camaraderie.
An election was held and the new Executive Committee is President Stella Horsford, Immediate Past President, Alison Carty, President Elect Blondell Rodgiers, Vice President Raheema Sharma, Secretary Maggie Mitchell, Treasurer Anita Brooks, Councillor Josephine Gumbs, Programme Action Officer Brenda Carty and members Una Gumbs, Carmencita Davis and Patricia Gumbs.
