The fund-raising effort was part of the continuing work of the benevolent organisation to build a permanent endowment fund for the benefit of the community. “Through contributions and investments the Foundation’s primary goal is to serve Anguilla over the generations,” a note in the programme pamphlet stated.

The classical music was delivered by two musicians who visited Anguilla for that purpose. One of them was Zhenya Yesmanovich, a Concert Pianist, who holds a Bachelor of Music Degree from the University of Toronto and has staged various international performances including in such places like Paris, Bucharest and Moscow.

The other musician was Kathleen Promane who is currently completing her studies in Opera at the University of Toronto. She has been described as “one of the most promising young artistes to emerge on the Canadian scene in recent years. She is a first prize winner in the 2008 Barry Alexander International Vocal Competition.

During the intermission there were three classical performances by Irena Kuafman-Brooks, an organist at St. Mary’s Anglican Church.

The opening prayer was by the Reverend S. W. Hodge and the welcome by Dr. Bonnie Richardson-Lake of the Anguilla Community Foundation. The performers were introduced by Pamela Riley.
