Spanish Nationals Celebrate Church's 7th Anniversary

The Spanish community in Anguilla, whose nationals are generally admired for their close congregation in the localities in which they reside, as well as their good behaviour on the island, took centre stage on the religious scene with a one-week crusade which ended on Saturday night, March 29.

The crusade, entitled “Developing the vision of God,” was in observance of the Seventh Anniversary of the Spanish Church in the Quarter, known as “Casa De Oracion” (translated “House of Prayer”).

The crowded tent was located in an open area just off from the building which houses the church. The tempo of the musical portions of the crusade, and the fervor of the deliveries by Pata (Pastor) Jorge Pina and his team, attracted much attention from members of the public.

The Spanish nationals have shown much commitment in their religious lives among the population of Anguilla. There are five small, but well-established, Spanish churches on the island. Two are located at South Hill, another two at Stoney Ground and one in the Quarter. All the congregations came together for the crusade, adding to its success and impressiveness.

While the main bulk of the Spanish nationals have their own churches, there are others who are members of a few local churches.
