Police Investigating Road Accident


The Traffic Department of the Royal Anguilla Police Force is investigating the circumstances of an accident which occurred in the Farrington area after 5.30 on Saturday morning, March 23.

Deputy Commissioner, Illidge Richardson, gave the name of the driver of the car as Chelsea Philips of St. Vincent. She was at the time travelling east from the Valley when she collided into a vehicle parked off the Farrington main road.

She was trapped in the badly damaged car and sustained much injury. It reportedly took the Emergency Services over two hours to cut through the wreckage to free her, following which she was taken to and admitted at the Princess Alexandra Hospital.

This accident adds to a continuing spate of serious and minor incidents which are occurring on the island’s roads. The police are endeavouring to control the situation through stepped up patrols and a recently-introduced public safety campaign involving advertisements in the print media as well as on the radio and the erection of posters at key locations on the island.
