The late Dr. Lloyd at an early age
|
He was Anguilla’s first qualified Eye Specialist and brought much pride to the island in the academic and professional field. He was also the first of four children born to the late Phillip and Ann Elizabeth Lloyd of The Valley.
He was a larger-than-life personality, with a strong sense of Anguillian patriotism. He was highly respected in his profession among his fellow colleagues, the Anguillian community in St. Kitts and the general public in the Federation of St. Kitts-Nevis.
He was the brother of Dr. Franklyn Lloyd, Chairman of the Health Authority of Anguilla with whom he shared a very close relationship. He frequently visited Anguilla to interact with his many relatives and friends. He was a first cousin of Alan Gumbs and family of Rendezvous Bay Hotel and a member of the close-knit Lloyd and Gumbs families on the island.
Dr. Lloyd died at last weekend at the age of 77. His funeral was arranged for Friday, February 22, at the Methodist Church in Basseterre, St. Kitts.
The Anguillian offers its condolences to all the bereaved relatives and friends of the late Dr. Clarence Lloyd.
