Donna Rosell, owner and designer of Donna del Sol, comprising several luxury duty-free jewellery stores in the neighbouring French and Dutch islands and Southampton, has reported a successful trunk show at Malliouhana Hotel and Spa. She was present at the showcasing of her latest collection at the Resort’s up-market boutique on the evenings of February 17 and 18.

Her exhibition, which has a selection of the company’s best-selling creations, will continue at Malliouhana up to the end of April.
Ms Rosell has been coming to Anguilla since in 1981 when she was operating in St. Martin/Sint Maarten. “I remember when the Roydons first opened Malliouhana and I used to come here quite often,” she told The Anguillian. “We opened our first point of sale as a jewellery store when we were with Oro de Sol and that went on for years. We used to sell watches and real fine jewellery.
“As the years went by I began to design and manufacture my own name brand which is Donna del Sol. Today, the main show room is in St. Barths in the heart of Gustavia as well as a European showroom in Saint Tropez.

“This past year we had tremendous enquires from people in Anguilla asking if they could buy our designs here in Anguilla, so I decided to call my friend Nigel Roydon and asked him where he would suggest that I should go. Of course, he said, there is no other place to go but to come back home so that is what I did.”
She said that all of her company’s jewellery was being made in Europe. “We do not produce anything in Asia. We decided that we would always be a European manufacturer,” she stated. “I also have an office in Tel Aviv where we control all of our diamond purchasing and setting stones. This gives us a tremendous ability to sell direct. In other words, we design, we manufacture and we sell directly to the public through all of our own stores.”
Asked about the response to her exhibits at Malliouhana, Ms Rosell had this to say: “We were very surprised at the response we have had because we did not have a large advertising campaign whatsoever. It was by word of mouth and people came and purchased beautiful pieces. We had requests for wonderful designs and I am very, very excited and very proud to be back at the Malliouhana Hotel and Spa and part of the continued growth that Anguilla has today.”
General Manager at Malliouhana, Nigel Roydon, had this comment: “Donna Rosell is someone I’ve known for at least 20 years and she has been in the jewellery industry all that time. More recently she has been designing her own jewellery which I think is absolutely wonderful. It is stunning jewellery, it is up to date, has appeal and we are very lucky that she chose Malliouhana to display it.”
Mr. Roydon added: “From our perspective we feel that it is something that we are offering our guests to make their stay that bit more enjoyable. It is giving them a different perspective on things and a chance to see the wonderful styles that Donna creates.”
