Caribbean Insurance Brokers has been in existence since 2002 and is today the largest independent broker operating in St. Maarten. It does business in Curacao, Bonaire and Aruba and in 2007 opened an office in Anguilla to service a rapidly increasing demand for a wider range of insurance products and prices.

As a broker CIB has developed relationships with many different Insurance companies which offer great products and services. Of these ENNIA has proven to be one of the best and as such CIB invited them to enter the Anguilla market. ENNIA were suitably impressed by the high standards of building and the robust economy. They also saw an opportunity to offer a better product at better prices than currently available on Anguilla. ENNIA is now in the final stages of obtaining its license on Anguilla but given the relatively long lead times sometimes required in insurance they felt it was a good time to let people know what they have to offer.

2008 marks ENNIA’s 60th anniversary of offering insurance products in the region. It began on May 20 as the Dutch insurance company Eerste Nederlandse/Nieuw Eerste Nederlandse in Curacao. The name ENNIA was not actually introduced until 1974 when it was chosen as the new name as it merged the insurance companies EN/NEN, NILMIJ and ALBOZ. In the same year the company’s headquarters for the Netherlands Antilles and Aruba were established in Curacao.

In the years since, ENNIA was involved in a number of mergers and consolidations that allowed the company to grow while maintaining its commitment to service and customer satisfaction.

On January 6, 2006 the Parman Capital Group through its subsidiary Banco di Caribe N.V acquired ENNIA. Banco di Caribe is intent on becoming one of the premiere financial institutions within the region. The insurance industry and ENNIA is very much a part of this vision and they are committed to making ENNIA the best Insurance Company in the Caribbean. They feel that because they are located in the Caribbean they are ideally placed to understand the risks and opportunities that the region offers. They can also offer the best service and the most responsiveness when it comes to claims.

ENNIA is a great corporate citizen and contributes large amounts of time and money to worthy causes throughout the Dutch Antilles. It intends to do the same in Anguilla.

The two companies will compete with existing companies but they also see this as an opportunity to bring insurance, and the benefits it offers, to a new range of customers that have never had the opportunity to get great insurance at a reasonable price. They do not only intend to get a piece of the market they intend to grow it.
