Health Authority Board Appoints Finance Manager

Ralph V. C. Hodge MBE joined the management team at the Anguilla Health Authority as the Finance Manager effective 15th January 2008.

Mr. Hodge, who holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Management Studies with an accounting bias from the Mona Campus of the University of the West Indies, served in the Anguilla Public Service for some 38 years: 31 in the Ministry of Finance, 3 ½ as Permanent Secretary in the Chief Minister’s Office and 3 ½ as Permanent Secretary, Health Social Development and Sports.
His service varied from Customs Officer, Treasury Clerk, Senior Treasury Clerk, Assistant Examiner of Accounts (Audit), Principal Assistant Secretary Finance to Accountant General. Mr. Hodge acted on several occasions as Anguilla’s Deputy Governor, Financial Secretary and as a Permanent Secretary in every ministry of Government. He also served as Director of Finance and Planning.
His wider experience includes serving as a three-term Chairman of the Anguilla Social Security Board, a long-term member of the Anguilla Development Board, a Director of the Caribbean Development Bank and the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank.
He worked as a member of the Financial Action Task Force on the mutual evaluation of the Government of Trinidad and Tobago, served as Chairman of the Social and Economic Advisory Committee of the Government of Anguilla and on numerous other Public and Private Sector Committees and Boards.
He treasures his work as one of the original broadcasters at Radio Anguilla and as a contributor to various newspapers. He has a passion for journalism. His work also extended to various part - time private sector accounting assignments and surveys on Anguilla and St. Maarten and as an accounting tutor in both private and public sector accounting since 1977.
He cherishes being associated with the National Bank of Anguilla as a promoter company secretary and director during the banks formative years.
Presently, Mr. Hodge serves as the Deputy Chairman of the Anguilla Financial Services, Commission, a board member of the Eastern Caribbean Home Mortgage Bank and a Director of the National Bank of Anguilla Ltd.
His career has been regularly punctuated with numerous training conferences, courses and assignments in various areas of management, finance, accounting, administration and privatization locally, regionally and internationally.
He has long been associated with all forms of sports as a sportsman, sports official and sports administrator. He served as a three-term president of the Anguilla Lions Club and as an member of the Anguilla National Youth Council in the organization’s early years.
Mr. Hodge looks forward to his assignment with the Health Authority as a challenge but sees it as a commitment to the development of a vital aspect of national development.
