Flower And Garden Show Set For February 23 And 24

Start pampering your plants and flowers now so they’re ready for the Anguilla Beautification Clubs’ Flower and Garden Show. The Club is encouraging members as well as the general public to participate in this year’s competition. Some new and exciting events are sure to inspire even the novice gardener. Again this year, there will be an island-wide “Best Garden Competition”.

Nominate your own garden or someone else’s. The deadline is February 25th and the judging will start during the week of February 28th. Guidelines and forms can be found at: The Library, The Post Office, Anguilla Drug Store, Dept. of Tourism, Dept. of Agriculture, the commercial banks, and Cards Plus at Tomac Plaza.

To encourage children of all ages to enjoy gardening, the ABC will once again host the school wide competition with this year’s theme, “Anguilla Life-A-Riot of Colors”. Members of the Club will be going out to the schools and informing the children of the competition. Art work will also be on display from the different schools.

Last year, for the first time, a cacti garden was on display. It will return this year due to the huge interest it generated. Also returning in the smaller building will be the beautiful orchids display provided by Eric Martinez and other members from previous years. Orchids will also be on sale.

The garden centers and resorts’ landscapers will exhibit their talents by providing an array of local trees, shrubbery, and flowers. The Garden Show opening ceremony is Saturday February 23rd at 10:00 am it will run until 5 pm. Sunday, the show starts at 11am, with the awards ceremony starting at 4:30.
Crafters, food and music will be provided through out the day. Come and surround yourself in the beauty of Anguilla’s gardeners and appreciate the nature that surrounds us!
