While continuing to maintain a musical presence in the Caribbean—foremost as visiting artist-teacher at the Saint Lucia School of Music—Ray Luck has performed in several musical capitals of the world and toured on five continents. Concerts at London’s Queen Elizabeth Hall and New York’s Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center followed his prizewinning debut at Geneva’s International Musical Competition, along with solo appearances with the Suisse Romande Orchestra, Paris Conservatoire Orchestra, and City of London Sinfonia.

As a high school student in Georgetown, Guyana, Ray Luck obtained the Licentiate and Fellowship diplomas from the Royal Schools of Music and Trinity College of Music, London. He later graduated with music degrees and diplomas from the Royal College of Music and London University, Paris’s Conservatoire National Superieur de Musique, and finally earned a music doctorate from Indiana University at Bloomington. In 2002 he was appointed the Charles A. Dana professor emeritus of music at Randolph College in Lynchburg, Virginia, and under the aegis of the US State Department’s Fulbright Program he served as a visiting lecturer in the Caribbean, Greece, and Canada. In recognition of his outstanding musical accomplishment, he was admitted a Member of the Order of Service by the Government of Guyana and awarded the Cacique’s Crown of Honour.

During this visit to Anguilla, Dr. Luck will give a master class for piano students on Thursday, January 17, from 9:00am to 12 noon, and teachers’ workshops on January 16 and 18. All events will take place in the Campus B Auditorium, and music-lovers are welcome to attend.
