ALBERTS WHOLESALE, MARKETPLACE OFFICIALLY OPENED
|
Albert Lake’s newly-built Wholesale and Market Place on the Stoney Ground Road, was officially opened on Wednesday, November 6, the birthday of his wife, Mrs. Octavia Lake. It was a very brief and simple ceremony during which Pastor Cecil Richardson of the Central Baptist Church at Rey Hill said a prayer, following which Mrs. Lake cut the ribbon to the main entrance door in the presence of members of staff and some of her children.
The top quality business place, which started trading at its new location last month, was decorated on the inside for the occasion with special prices on a number of products and opportunities for customers to sign up for benefits as frequent shoppers. Early customers were able to enjoy some of the delicacies and refreshments which were provided for the event.
Managing Director, Susan Lake-Marlin, told The Anguillian that there were plans to further improve the services of the business place. She mentioned a deli, the sale of over the counter drugs and the possibility of a children’s play area on the outside.
She is of the opinion that the development of the business came at the time even though things are slow at present. “The people like it; the response is good and I feel happy,” the hard-working young woman remarked.
She stated that the big investment reflected the family’s confidence in Anguilla and the economy. “Yes, the economy is bad, but everybody is hoping that the tourist season will be a good one; and with the Christmas season coming up, locals and expatriates alike should have a little more money to spend. That is my hope,” she added.
