Mr. E. Valentine Banks, Chief Executive Officer of the National Bank of Anguilla, was present to accept the award. Good Corporate Citizen Awards are presented to commercial banks to recognize those banks which, “while conducting their day to day business, take time to reach out in various ways to the members of the communities in which they operate and from which they draw their strength”.

To be eligible for the Good Corporate Citizen Award and Best Corporate Citizen Award overall, banks must have programmes or initiatives that demonstrate sincerity, corporate social responsibility and have a positive impact on the community or country. The ECCB Agency Offices in the various Islands distributed survey forms to the public for responses and analyzed data submitted by individual Banks in order to arrive at the Best Banks. The public survey data counted for 50% of the final score for each bank and the other 50% was based on the information submitted by the banks outlining their achievements.
Commenting on the award, Ms. Marisa Gumbs, Market Research & Business Development Officer at NBA, expressed the Bank’s appreciation and gratitude to ECCB, the Bank’s customers and shareholders. Ms. Gumbs stated: “This award means a lot to the Bank especially at this time, as it comes on the heels of the launching of our annual customer satisfaction survey. At NBA, we view customer service as a critical area in our past and our continued successes, hence the Bank’s decision to institute annual customer satisfaction surveys. It is important for us to hear from our customers and gain valuable feedback and suggestions that will prove beneficial to the Bank.” Ms. Gumbs further stated, “NBA’s commitment to providing top quality customer service is demonstrated through the Bank’s continuous investments in providing training for all employees.” The past year saw numerous employees attending various short courses and training in customer service and other aspects of business operations, as we strive to fulfill NBA’s mission which is ‘Committed to Excellence in Financial Services through skilled and dedicated management and Staff for the benefit of Customers, Shareholders and the Community’. “We, therefore, have an obligation to provide nothing short of the best service to all our customers and the Anguilla community.”
NBA has won numerous Good Corporate Citizens awards in the past and notably the overall Best Corporate Citizens Award in 1998 and 2005.
