The training included sessions conducted by departmental heads, for their staff, and there was also a session for supervisors and team leaders on motivating employees conducted by Human Resource Manager, Carleen Gumbs. The highlight was a talk on October 26 delivered by motivational speaker and author, Curtis Zimmerman, who was born in Hollywood, California, and resides in Cincinnati.
Mr. Zimmerman is a well-known speaker across the United States and is constantly in demand there and various other parts of the world.

In introducing him, Human Resource Manager, Ms Gumbs, said the General Manager, Stephane Zaharia, and executive members had recognised the need to train and motivate the workers as they were the resort’s greatest asset. She said the aim of the speaker was not only to assist the employees in their on-the-job performance, but in improving their personal lives as well.
Mr. Zimmeran focussed his talk on the empowerment of workers, the need for them to build a successful organisation and as a result for the hotel to continue to operate at the highest level to provide customer satisfaction and service. His talk was entitled ‘Living Your Life at Performance Level.’
“I want you to be passionate about what you are doing here,” he exhorted the employees. “Be passionate about the effect you have on people who come to visit your beautiful island.”

Zimmerman was able to speak effectively to the hotel workers in an interactive session which included responses from them, various exercises with their fingers and arms and even in a fine display of juggling balls, all providing them with lessons of service and discipline.

“All of you in this room are doing lots of things right or else you couldn’t be at this hotel…but if you think you are going to keep the statue of this awesome place you work in by demonstrating what you already know, you are wrong,” he declared. “The only way that you are going to grow, change and become [better] and keep the people coming back year after year, is to keep doing what you are already doing right, but slowly adding one more thing over and over and, before you know it, you will be doing things you never thought you could.”
Mr. Zimmerman’s motivational talk was well-received by all levels of staff at the resort who found much pleasure in its interactive nature and benefited greatly from the session.
CuisinArt Resort & Spa is one of Anguilla’s up-market hotels. It has received much international commendation and recognition for its professionalism, attractiveness and high level of service.
The property currently has 93 suites spread out in ten villas. An additional six private villas, three with three bedrooms each, and the other three with five bedrooms each, are currently under construction. All of them will have private pools. The other work in progress is the expansion of the spa facility.
