Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examinations (CAPE)


In May/June 2007 a total of 58 candidates in Upper and Lower Six at the Albena Lake Hodge Comprehensive School wrote subjects at the Caribbean Advanced Proficiency level. There were 218 subject entries.

This year registered an increase in both candidate and subject entries over last year. In May/June 2006 there were 48 candidates and 182 subject entries.
The Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC) offers a total of 43 Units in 27 subjects at this level. At the Albena Lake Hodge Comprehensive School a total of 29 Units (19 Unit 1 courses and 10 Unit two courses) in 21 subjects were offered in 2007.
Performance of candidates
The overall performance of candidates in the CAPE May/June 2007 examinations showed an improvement when compared to that of 2006. Ninety one percent of the subject entries presented achieved Grades I to V compared with 81 percent in 2006.
