No-Walls Church Contributes To School Children

In a gesture of goodwill and care for a few selected students of the Stoney Ground Primary School, the recently founded No-Walls Church of Hope, last Friday evening, made presentations of school supplies to some twenty-two children, just in time for the opening of the new school year.

The children, accompanied by at least one parent, met at the church at 6:00 p.m. for the remarkable event. Parents and children alike were highly appreciative of the attractive gifts which consisted of back-packs containing books, pens, pencils, rulers and packets of miscellaneous school stuff. Tasty refreshments were served following the brief presentations ceremony.

According to Pastor James Harrigan, the initiative was spearheaded by Ms. Kate Rogers of Stoney Ground, now residing in the U.S., who is a devout member of Without Walls Church International in Lakeland, Florida. Pastor Harrigan said that this is only the first such undertakings of public contributions by the young ministry. He hinted that in the future these presentations will take on an annual trend, during the last week of August, in collaboration with the Florida-based church.

“Next year,” Pastor Harrigan says, “we intend to contribute in a similar way to the Valley Primary School, and alternate primary schools will benefit on an annual basis.” He noted, “By this gesture, we not only contribute to the community in an educational or material sense, but we also strive whole-heartedly to attract our youngsters to benefits that are of spiritual and moral values.”

In his address during the presentations, the Pastor encouraged the parents present to, as a point of duty, make every effort to get their children involved in Sunday School, in the things of the church and, to strive at attaining excellence in the things of God. He mentioned that by doing so the children would be more geared towards educational success, and they would contribute towards alleviating much of the ills that young people are plagued by in our society today.

Assisting in the distribution of the presents were Co-Pastor Patricia Harrigan who offered a fervent prayer for the children; Sunday School Officer Gerdia Harrigan, who promoted the significance of Sunday School in a child’s upbringing; as well as the church’s Public Relations Officer Kay Furgerson, along with one of the church’s newest members, Karen Babb.

The No-Walls Church of Hope, located upstairs the English Rose Restaurant, will begin conducting fully-fledged Sunday School sessions as of Sunday, September 16th at 10:00 a.m. Parents in Anguilla are encouraged to enroll their young ones for these valuable weekly classes by contacting the Sunday School Officer at 476-3844.
