|
The newly-appointed Resort Manager at Malliouhana Hotel and Spa, Steve Shotsberger, says the outgoing tourism season was an exciting period for the property because it received more accolades in the past year than in any other year.

He was speaking over the noise of the mass staff party on Monday, September 3, following the closing of the hotel on August 31 for the usual end of season break which ends on November 1 when the upscale property reopens.

“It was a good time for Malliouhana with the largest accolade being when the hotel was voted number 4 resort in the Caribbean by the readers of Travel Leisure Magazine. It was a very big honour occasioned by the people who stayed in the hotel here on Anguilla, Mr. Shotsberger said.
“I think the future in general is very bright for Anguilla and the next five years are going to be very good for tourism on the island,” he stated.
Over the next two months some preparatory work will be carried out at Malliouhana for the next season.

There are 266 employees at Malliouhana and Mr. Shotsberger remarked that the accolades won by the hotel were an honour to the work of the workers who developed the resort over the past 24 years. “It is a credit to all these people who are here tonight and it just shows that we are doing a great job and we are going to continue to move forward and get better,” he added.

The employees and those whom they invited from various parts of the island enjoyed a well-planned party with lots to eat and drink. A number of workers who participated in raffle won various cash prizes and gifts sponsored by businesses which did business with the hotel during the season.

The raffle was supervised by Human Resource Manager, Blannaid Dwyer (B), and contributed additional excitement to the party. The function ended with music for dancing.
