Everything Ready For Summer Festival


The ports of entry are buzzing with activity as returning Anguillians and visitors are arriving on the island from various parts of the world for the Summer Festivities, family reunions and the renewal of acquaintances.

here have been additional flights into Wallbalke Airport and an increased number of ferryboat trips at Blowing Point to handle the influx of passengers which will considerably push up immigration statistics.
Meanwhile, all is ready at the Landsome Bowl Cultural Centre where the Carnival Committee, the Festivals Office and the Tourist Board will hold various shows in addition to the street jamming, the parade of troupes and a week-long series of boat races at different locations.
The programme for the Summer Festival will be as follows: Thursday, August 2: official opening and fireworks display; Friday, August 3: soca classic ll featuring Sparrow, Swallow Calypso Rose, Scrunter & Sugar Aloes; Saturday, August 4: Kiddies Parade and International Night; Sunday, August 5: Henineken Warm-up boat race at Sandy Ground; Prince & Princess & Junior Calypso Show; and Aqua Design Female Calypso Show.

Monday, August 6: J’ouvert Morning; August Monday boat race at Sandy Ground; and Caribbean Beach party also at Sandy Ground. Tuesday, August 7: August Tuesday boat race and CCB Talented Teen Pageant. Wednesday, August 8: August Wednesday boat race and Calypso Monarch Finals; Thursday, August 9: August Thursday boat race at Meads Bay and Miss Anguilla Queens Pageant; Friday, August 10: Grand Parade of Troupes; Saturday, August 11: Sunrise street jam and the Cable & Wireless-sponsored Leeward Islands Calypso Competition; and Sunday, August 12: Champion of Champions Boat Race, Grand Finals and Fireworks at Sandy Ground.
