Chief Minister Osbourne Fleming, under whose office the publication was done, commended the committee charged with the responsibility of overseeing the work. That committee comprises Permanent Secretary, Foster Rogers, Principal Assistant Secretary, Evalie Bradley, Director of Information and Broadcasting (the Editor), Colville L. Petty, Nat Hodge, Joan Richardson and Wycliffe Richardson.

“These are the people who spearheaded the magazine that is before us. We must commend them,” the Chief Minister stated. He also thanked the advertisers for supporting the undertaking, “realising that the publication would act as a catalyst to inform the youth of tomorrow.”

Mr. Fleming said the magazine showed the cadre of persons and intellect in Anguilla surpassed many other places. “I am very proud of that. I often refer to the fact that we have people who can make a difference,” he added.

Mr. Rogers described the magazine as a keepsake. “It is a document that we can hold in any historical museum around the world that can speak to Anguilla’s history. It is filled with articles by prominent people in Anguilla and other persons involved in the community at different levels.

Kenneth Hodge, told of the tedious work involved in the magazine which he said “had turned out to be a very wonderful publication.” He stated that as a result of the volume of support from the advertisers the magazine, 5000 copies of which were printed, would be distributed free of cost. One thousand copies will go to the schools.

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister joined Mrs. Bradley in speaking about the Anguilla Day celebrations. Tuesday 29 will see a school parade; an anniversary thanksgiving service at St.Mary’s Anglican Church; Wednesday, May 30 will be the official parade and awards to be attended by many invited guests from Anguilla and other neighbouring islands. There will be food and entertainment at the Webster Park all day. In the evening at Altamer Resort will be the Chief Minister’s Ball.
