The West End School Leavers’ Association, now just about one year old, is looking at ways and means in which its members can play an effective role in their community.

As part of its objectives, members of the body presented a financial contribution to Desmond (Shine) Richardson at the West End Branch of the Church of God of Prophecy on Sunday, May 20, following the morning service.

Mr. Richardson, proprietor of the gasoline station in that district, was shot and wounded by a person believed to have been a would-be robber as he was about to close business one night.

The well-respected villager was who received initial treatment the Princess Alexandra Hospital, later went for further assistance in Puerto Rico where the leg in which he was shot in the knee has had to be amputated.
