Revision Of Labour Fees |
The Anguilla Executive Council has agreed to a revision of labour fees in a number of areas effective 15 May.
The areas affected include immigration, travel and work permits, labour, documentation search fees, performing arts, replacement and variation and visa application.
The economic boom in Anguilla has spawned high levels of migration from countries within the OECS and CARICOM as well as from many other nations around the world and it is evident that there is a great need for labour in Anguilla at all levels, however it must be managed.
According to the Chief Minister’s Office the new fees are at a rate that is not prohibitive, but at the same time reflect in some way the value of services that are offered for immigration purposes.
The immigration labour fees for Anguilla have not been revised since 2003, however the number of persons requesting these services has increased substantially over the years, in particular with respect of persons applying for work permits.
The Ministry of Labour says the increase in fees will serve a two-fold purpose: increase revenue and dissuade persons from applying unnecessarily.
