There is growing local interest in the Anguilla Regatta, now in its fourth year, as one of the events aimed at attracting visitors to the island in the leaner months of the year.

The regatta, to a large extent, involves various yachts from the neighbouring islands participating in a three-day event during the month of May. There is also the participation of a number of Anguillian racing boats in both A and B categories.
The most recent set of races took place on May 11, 12 and 13 and attracted many visitors and local people at Sandy Ground where the regatta originated.
Among the spectators were many Anguillians, some of whom posed for The Anguillian camera and expressed a desire to be shown at the regatta. “We too are interested in the event and not just the visitors,” one local person said.
They had witnessed the races for the yachts on the first two days of the event and had returned on the third day to see the Anguillian racing boats in action.
