Anguillian Student Strikes Gold In India

Arnie S. Hodge has become the first Anguillian to study in India and complete a Master’s Degree in Human Resource Planning and Development and to have won two gold medals associated with his academic success.

He was awarded a one-year scholarship by the Indian Government’s Foreign Affairs Department from February 1, 2003 to January 31, 2007 and was a student at Indraprastha University, one of the country’s top educational institutions. His final report shows a series of straight A and A-plus grades, mainly the latter.
His main study modules were Human Resource Planning, Human Resource Development, Human Information Systems as well as Education, Planning and Economics.
His Masters thesis was on “Linkages between Tertiary Education and Crime.” He was awarded a Gold Medal for “standing high first division in the Order of Merit” and the President’s Medal for outstanding academic performance. The medals are the only two awards offered by the university for excellence.
Ash Hodge also completed side courses in Administrative and Managerial Human Resources and Decentralisation and Governance.
The successful Anguillian student previously holds a BA Degree in Psychology from the University of the Virgin Islands where he graduated Summa Cum Laude. He earlier studied engineering courses in England and Canada.
During his undergraduate studies he did research work and presentations in various parts of the United States and was an exchange student at Grambling State University in Louisiana.
Hodge says he looks forward to making a tangible contribution to his island home. He currently serves as Information Officer at the Anguilla Government’s Department of Information and Broadcasting.
He is the son of Assistant Anglican Priest in Anguilla, Reverend Menes Hodge.
