Landmark Galaxy Building Demolished

The Galaxy building, which once served as a leading supermarket in Anguilla and a landmark on the Wallblake Road, has been demolished and the tons of debris will now provide filling for new foundations in the building industry.

Speaking on behalf of Island Real Estate, Frederick Harrigan said the building was demolished because it had become a risk as the inside had begun to collapse. The nearby dwelling house was taken down a few days before.

According to Mr. Harrigan there are plans to construct a new building on the site later on – possibly a shopping centre.

The Galaxy building and the residence were previously owned by the late Clement Daniels. Until recently, part of the old supermarket was used for the production of costumes for the August Festivities.
