There is still much excitement in the air as the story of how the Police beat the Stoney Ground Warriors is being retold. It was one of the most challenging and well-fought Domino Competition finals, part of a series of week-long activities commemorating the 35th Anniversary of the Royal Anguilla Police Force.

Over the past three years the Police and Warrior teams have been locked in a finals battle with the Police scoring victory on each occasion. The playing arrangement was that the teamwhich wins three consecutive matches would eventually be awarded the Commissioner’s coveted Trophy. The Police emerged champions in the finals played on Sunday, January 28 from 12 noon to 7.45 pm and thus won the trophy. The score was 11-0.
The Warriors have played competitive matches in Anguilla and in the neighbouring islands over the years with stunning success.

This time, on their home ground, they have been convincingly beaten by the Police. They placed second in the finals and were awarded a trophy in that category.
Third place was taken by the K-9s, an emerging domino team.
The best playing pairs for the Police were Commissioner Keithly Benjamin and Peter Goodridge, Michael Fleming and Junior Fleming. The Manager of the Police Team was Dejourn Saunders, while the Stoney Ground Warriors were managed by Leroy Bryan.
Ronald Webster, a member of the Warriors Team commented: “I guess the Police are the best…and we must accept it. It is strange, but fact.”
An amused Saunders jumped up and down, shouting “We, the Police, have shut down the Warriors 11-zip.”
