Mr. Hughes, who lives in Washington, DC, was in Anguilla this week on a personal business trip, but took the opportunity to sign up a number of persons into the membership of the association.

Mr. Hughes was among many amateur and professional pool players who gathered in Louisville, Kentucky, for the 6th Annual Derby City Classic which was held during January 5-13. The event is said to be one of the largest and richest pool (billiards) activity in the United States.

As part of that event, he participated in the second United States Billiards Association 3-cushion Regional Qualifier Tournament and won two of his four matches.

Mr. Hughes is working towards diversifying sports in Anguilla hence the reason for promoting pocket billiards on the island. His desire is to secure top notch equipment and get expert instructors to conduct clinics for players.
