“The Chief Minister was very aggressive in his view on preserving Cap Juluca’s band … That was very positive for us and we thought it was an important first step. From where we stand, I think in the next two to three months we believe there is going to be an opportunity for us to get involved with Cap Juluca,” he told the local media on Wednesday.
He said that representatives of the companies and their Financier/Entrepreneur, Larry Levy, had told the Government of their ability to make the Cap Juluca transaction work and were pleased with the response. He stated that the Government had undertaken to get the 17-year ownership dispute over the property solved and noted that this would clear the way for further investment opportunities as his company envisioned and to preserve the resort’s current brand.
Turbidy noted that the Gencom Group was still actively engaged in talks to purchase the hotel and to significantly develop the property far beyond its current size and brand. He added that the joiant ANTIL/Auberege-Firesky companies were waiting to see how the Gencom talks and proposals would play out and what further opportunities there would be on the matter to pursue.
Mr. Levy, their partner and financier, is a successful United States businessman and owner of a group of top restaurants and real estate enterprises operating in various parts of America.
Other Auberge-Furesky partners include Mark Harmon and Ben Weprin. They, along with Mr. Turbidy and E. Valentine Banks, CEO of the National Bank of Anguilla and ANTIL Board member, were at the Wednesday morning press briefing at NBA’s Board Room.
