Two Anguillians Graduate With BBA Degrees

Ms. Marissa Rey of The Quarter, Anguilla, recently graduated from the State University of New York at Cobleskill with an A.A.S. in Accounting and a B.B.A in Financial Services. Ms. Rey’s high academic performance during her tenure at SUNY Cobleskill led to enrollment on the Dean’s List from Spring 2004 to Fall 2006. While managing to maintain a high academic standing, Ms. Rey became actively involved outside of the classroom.

She obtained the position of Resident Assistant in April 2005 and held this position until December 2006. While in this position, her duties entailed enforcing campus rules and regulations and maintaining the overall safety of her residence hall. She was also elected SUNY Cobleskill Orange Key Ambassador from Spring 2005 to Fall 2006. During her summer breaks she played an active role in the Caribbean Commercial Bank Talented Teen Committee, organizing and coordinating many of the Talent Teen Pageant activities.
Before venturing off to pursue a tertiary level education, Ms. Rey had been employed with the Caribbean Commercial Bank as a Utility Clerk since August 2000. Her versatility allowed her to be very mobile, and she rotated through various departments acquiring the skills necessary to fill-in for any staff member on vacation or extended sick leave. During the summer of 2006, Ms. Rey completed her internship with the Caribbean Commercial Bank as a Credit Risk Analyst Intern.
Ms. Rey’s efficiency in this field allowed her to be appointed as Credit Risk Analyst, which is her current job title at Caribbean Commercial Bank. The Management and Staff of the Caribbean Commercial Bank wish to congratulate her on her recent achievement.

Ms. Cherecia Lewis of South Hill, Anguilla, recently obtained a B.B.A in Marketing from Florida International University (FIU). She was awarded high honours (Magna Cum Laude) and graduated among the top 10% of her class. After her first year at FIU, she was enrolled on the Dean’s List and continued to produce outstanding grades allowing her to maintain her position on the Dean’s List throughout all three and a half years of her studies.
While attending Florida International University, Ms. Lewis became actively involved in campus life. In the Fall semester 2005, she was elected Secretary of her Residence Hall Council and held this post until Spring 2006. Her duties involved taking and recording minutes of meetings, organizing and coordinating campus programs, creating and distributing publicity programmes and assisting residents with general matters and concerns. She was also a member of the Caribbean Students Association and is currently a member of the Student Alumni Association. Based on her academic achievements she was invited to join a number of honour societies such as the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, a society which recognizes outstanding academic achievements among first and second year college students. Other societies included Golden Key Honour Society and Delta Epsilon Iota.
Ms. Lewis was employed with Caribbean Commercial Bank in 2001 and held the position of Receptionist. She was later appointed to the position of Manager’s Secretary and secured this position until 2003 when she left to further her studies. During her summer and winter breaks she returned to CCB taking up employment in the Credit Department where she was responsible for the processing of loans along with secretarial duties. Ms. Lewis’ dedication to CCB allowed her to re-gain employment with the bank where she now holds the post of Marketing Assistant. Ms. Lewis intends to further her studies in the field of International Business and looks forward to continuing her career with CCB.
