St. Augustine's Chorale Closes Out 2006 In Song


Journey of Promises was the theme of a song presentation by the St. Augustine’s Chorale which closed out 2006 on December 31 and was attended by a capacity crowd at the Anglican Church at East End.

Notwithstanding that it was a repeat programme the attendance was just as high as that on Christmas Day when the first presentation took place. The chorale, under the direction of professional musician, Lennox Vanterpool, is steadily growing in popularity and usually gets a standing ovation from the appreciative audience.

The St. Augustine’s Junior Choir led out with three selections: That little Baby with Joy to the World; Bright Shining Star and Jesus the Saviour is Born with Joy to the World.

The selections by the Chorale for Journey of Promises included: Come Away, the Promised Light (Arise and Shine! Your Light Has Come); the Promised Hope (When will Messiah Come?); the Promised Glory (Lift Up Your Heads); Bethlehem Morning, the Promised Peace (Songs of Bethlehem); the Promised Love (He Shall Feed His Flock); the Promised Joy (Unto Us a Son is Given); the Promised Wisdom (Star in the Desert); and the Promised Life (Hark! The Herald Angels Sing).

The soprano singers were Gina Brooks-Hodge, Agnes Duncan-Maurice, Angelica Duncan, Annette Duncan, Deseree Ducan, Maureen Duncan, Kathleen Fleming, Ann Gumbs, Jennifer Gumbs, Ursula Harrigan, Iris Richardson and Audrey Rogers.
The alto singers were Margaret Augustus, Pansy Richardson, Amelia Vanterpool-Kubisch and Zulma Webster.and the tenor:Chrispen Gumbs, Calvin Harrigan, James Harrigan and Daryl Hodge.

Eversley Brown, Evans Harrigan, Kenneth Harrigan, Cardigan Hodge and Steve Hopkins sang bass.

The narrators were Tamika Fleming and Franklyn Richardson along with Delvin Fleming as Celebrant.

The congregation participated by singing two hymns, one at the beginning and the other at the end of the programme.
