They were the recently-appointed Attorney General, Wilhelm Bourne, who replaces Ronald Scipio who relinquished his post earlier this month and will be going into private practice; and Acting Deputy Governor, Dr. Aidan Harrigan.

Mr. Carty welcomed Mr. Bourne and his wife to Anguilla saying his job as Attorney General was an onerous and important task and offered his best wishes. The Speaker took the opportunity to express his delight over the acting Deputy Governor appointment of Mr. Harrigan and was pleased that Anguillian young men were being given opportunities to serve in such positions.

Chief Minister Osbourne Fleming also welcomed Mr. Bourne and thanked Mr. Scipio for his years of service as Attorney General in Anguilla.

Mr. Fleming made the remarks after leading the House in observing one minute silence as a mark of respect for the passing of the husband of Sarah Wescott-Williams, Leader of Government Business in St. Maarten.
