Special Adviser for Tourism, Donna Banks brought greetings from the Minister of Tourism, Victor Banks who was in New York and therefore unable to attend. He said that Anguilla holds its own in the region and the world in tourism, with its low volume and high quality tourism. He commented that tourism has always been recognized as the main vehicle to drive the island’s economy and that foreign investment would be needed. He also pointed out that Anguillians should participate at all levels of the industry and there will be no sustainable development without this participation. He congratulated some of the young Anguillians who “are taking the plunge” and investing in high quality properties. Mr Banks also congratulated the awardees and urged all to live the tourism week slogan to the fullest for quality service and ownership.
