Digicel Celebrates 1st Anniversary In Anguilla


The local community was treated to a day of entertainment, fun and good times on Saturday December 2nd as Digicel celebrated its first anniversary in Anguilla!

The fast paced mobile company kicked off a day of celebrations with a Kiddie Fun Day held at the Agricultural Grounds. The children enjoyed bouncy castles and numerous other fun activities to keep them excited. As usual there were lots of Digicel goodies which were given away freely. The event was a joint effort in partnership with Digicel, the Cub Scouts and Prophecy Pre-School.

The Digicel Block Party kicked off at 7pm. This free to all event was hosted by KOOL FM’s DJ Passion. The Honorable Neil Rogers, Minister of Social Development, gave the opening remarks to a 1000 strong crowd and commented on Digicel’s positive impact on Anguilla over the last 12 months and the importance and healthiness of competition.

Revelers were entertained by Drak NY who again showed his true star quality which had gained him a place to represent Anguilla at the recent Digicel Rising Star competition in Barbados. Entertainment for the evening was rocking as Anguilla’s own represented with a hype mix of music from DJ Legend and Infusion’ a new band with hot vibes. Reggae Star I-Wayne kept the party going and the night ended the right way with Betta band bringing it home live and direct.

Stephenie Brooks, Country Manager for Digicel Anguilla commented: “Digicel is delighted to be here. The last 12 months have seen a revolution for telecommunications in Anguilla. The cost of mobile phone service has plummeted dramatically, but at the same time we have endeavored to give the people of Anguilla world class customer service. “Saturday was a way of Digicel saying thank you, to the people of Anguilla for their warm welcome. We are honored to be here and will continue to show our appreciation through social activities and community sponsorships. The people of Anguilla can rest assured that Digicel is here to stay and the days of poor service and high prices have gone forever,” Brooks added.

Digicel thanks all those who turned up at event to make it a night to remember, and special thank you to those who worked behind the scenes to make the night the success that it was.
