Fishing Competition Resulting In Good Catches

The competition among fishermen in Island Harbour is continuing to result in some good catches, showing that there is an abundance of fish in Anguillian waters.

Early this week two brothers, Roger and Trivon Smith made a big catch about fifteen miles off Scrub Island. They brought in a total amount of 675 pounds of dolphins and wahoos. There were some 60 dolphins and 18 wahoos among the catch.

The largest wahoo weighed 94 pounds while two others tipped the scale at 85 and 75 pounds.

With the tourism season now in swing, the two young fishermen found it relatively easy to get their fish sold to hotels and restaurants on the island.

The Smith brothers do their line fishing from their open boat Sea Runner.
