Dear Editor,

Anticipation often turns out to be more enjoyable than the actual event, but that was not the case for the audience at St Augustine’s this past Sunday evening for the inaugural performance of Morlens Music Studio’s recital series showcasing some of the Studio’s exceptional students.

To the audience’s delight, Miss Shermel Richardson presented a selection of pieces that she performed on the flute. Her talent and her commitment were both obvious in the beauty of her music and her smile after the audience’s applause let us know how much she was enjoying the evening as well!

From Mozart to the Flight of the Bumblebee to Misty and Save the Best for Last, Shermel’s audience anticipated each piece. Many were seen wiping away a tear at her beautiful presentation of Ave Maria. And we all felt like singing along when she played Amazing Grace!

I would like to urge everyone to attend this recital series. Not only are his students shining, but Mr. Lennox Vanterpool’s talent, both as an instructor and an accompanist, makes this an event not to be missed!
