NBA Climaxes 20th Anniversary Celebrations With Commemorative Magazine

The National Bank of Anguilla Limited has climaxed a long series of activities with the launching of a special 20th Anniversary Commemorative Magazine. It admirably covers the period 1985-2005 detailing the establishment of the Bank and its successful operations.

The launching ceremony was held at the Bank’s Board Room on Tuesday, October 31. NBA’s Chairman, Joseph Norris Payne, said: “Over its 20 years, NBA has continuously sought to focus significant resources on building its human capital. The skills of this human capital… have propelled this institution to where it is today.”

Mr. Payne said that apart from tourism and inward investment, NBA had been one of the businesses that had driven the island’s economy since the late 1980s to the present time. “Today is Anguilla’s heyday and we must ensure we use our new found economic blessings to maximum benefit through spending on things which have the ability to increase in value (example land), create businesses and start saving for future rainy days and/or investment opportunities.”

The Chairman noted that one of the greatest benefits from the Bank was for those Anguillians who invested in shares in NBA. “All investors have seen their investments pay consistent dividends and grow significantly in value,” he went on. “This is only one of the benefits of investment. The Bank which they own and elect directors to run, now significantly influences life and lives on this island.”

Mr. Payne described the Bank’s 20th Anniversary Magazine as “a gold mine of information” which was a relevant today as in the past years. He was grateful to Maglan Richardson and her team, Ken and Ivor Hodge, for producing the publication and Marisa Gumbs for hard work and diligence in overseeing the preparation of the magazine.

Mrs. Richardson said that twenty years of serving Anguilla was a big accomplishment for NBA which has provided visionary leadership and growth. “The Bank has grown from strength to strength. What started out as a 13 million-dollar business is now an 850 million one,” she reported.

Ken Hodge expressed his pleasure in designing the 75-page gloss magazine, thanked the Bank for giving him the opportunity and wished the institution continued success. The publication includes messages from the Chief Minister and the Minister of Finance and articles by a number of the Bank’s officials. It covers various events and services of NBA and is a good reference work about banking in Anguilla. There are three thousand copies of the magazine in print for distribution.
