After a week of rain, Windball Cricket action continued on Sunday with 5 games played at East End and The Farrington.
Three games, originally scheduled to be played in Island Harbour, had to be relocated to the Farrington due to a wet outfield.
At East End, the East Eagles were awarded easy points after Di Fungies failed to turn up for a third week. The Blue Jays then defeated Top Hill Burners in their 11:30 match.
Batting first, the Blue Jays set a target of 104 for Top Hill. John Jeffers led the way, scoring 20, while Jaivaughn Richardson contributed 17 not out. Earl Gumbs and Al Richardson took 2 wickets each for Top Hill.
Responding, Top Hill scored 86 off their 20 overs, with Everton “Chuck” Hull top scoring with 23, while “Rock” Richardson scored 19. Travis “Wire” Carter took 2 wickets for the Blue Jays.
In the 9 a.m. match, in The Farrington Deadly Force were defeated by the Razor Massive men.
In game 2, Point United and Combined Force went head to head in a high-scoring encounter which resulted in Combined Force earning their first points of the tournament.
Combined Force batted first blasting 195 for 6 off their 20 overs with Kevin Edwards leading the way with 43 and E. Quoshie scoring 39 not out. Floyd Lake Jr. and Greg “2Pac” Romney took two wickets apiece for Point.
In reply, Point fell short by 3 runs, with Joseph “Whoop” Tyson and Ross Romney scoring 33 and 31 respectively. G. Millington took 5 wickets for Combined Force.
At 3 pm, Razor Massive’s female team defeated Force 2 Reckon in their encounter. Razor Massive won the toss and opted to bat first, scoring 85. Lisa Webster top scored with 30 while Talitha Webster contributed 15. Blondel Laurent made 2 run outs and took one wicket for Force 2 Reckon.
At their turn to bat, Force 2 Reckon fell short, scoring 54 without any batsman making it into double figures. Shamella Vanterpool took 3 wickets for the Razors.
Windball Cricket games will continue on November 19th, due to Anguilla’s hosting of a number of Leeward Islands hard ball cricket matches at the James Ronald Webster Park in the coming weeks.
