Anguilla's Minister Now Board Chairman


Anguilla’s Minister of Social Development, Evans Rogers, is the new Chairman of the Policy Board of the OECS/Pharmaceutical Procurement Service (OECS/PPS). He was installed in the position at the 20th meeting of the board and a special Health Ministers’ conference held at Paradise Cove Resort in Anguilla on September 8. Mr. Rogers succeeds the St. Kitts-Nevis Minister of Health, Rupert Herbert.

Delegates at the meeting reviewed five papers. These were the Annual Report for 2006, the Programme Budget fir 2006/2007; the four-year strategic plan for 2006-2010; a position paper to re-define the responsibilities between OECS/PPS and the OECS countries; and the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank’s report on the conduct of OECS/PPS accounts. The meeting also discussed various health-care issues relating to HIV/AIDS.

Among those at the meeting were Ministers responsible for Health and their Permanent Secretaries, Dr. Vasantha Chase, Director of the Social and Sustainable Division of the OECS Secretariat, Dr. Carol Boyd-Scobby of the Pan American Health Secretariat, and representatives of the CARICOM Secretariat.

The opening ceremony was chaired by Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Social Development in Anguilla, Orris Proctor.
