“The kidney is working well and everything is going good for now,” Mr. Fleming told The Anguillian in a brief telephone interview this week. Asked what his thoughts about the island were as he recuperates, he replied: “While here in Florida, I promised not to get involved in the affairs of Government at home, but I am aware of everything that is happening in Anguilla on a daily basis. I am very much attuned with the country.”
He went on: “I am exceptionally pleased with the way the Summer Festival went and I want to personally thank the Police Department and all who are involved in the security of the island for a job well done.
“I also want to say that when I am due to come home I will bring with me the donor of the kidney because a lot of Anguillians want to see the person who made that great sacrifice for me. I am sure that when I arrive people will come at the airport to see me and I will announce the donor as soon as I get there.”
The Chief Minister added that he had a scheduled appointment with his doctor on Friday at 11 o’clock (August 18) following which he would know when he would likely return to Anguilla.
In the meantime, he requested that his regards and good wishes should be conveyed to the people of the island.
