Visiting Anguillian Tells Of Pocket Billiards

Eric Hughes, CEO of Norric Enterprises, LLC, a billiards export and tournament marketing specialist, has given a presentation on pocket billiards at a meeting at the Teachers’ Resource Centre.

The presentation was the first ever opportunity in the Eastern Caribbean tourism market to promote pocket billiards tournaments in Anguilla as a world-class entertainment sports attraction.
Mr. Hughes, who was born of Anguillian parentage, lives in the United States. He discussed the various types of pocket billiards games, the greatest players, male and female players of colour, films that popularised the game world-wide, opportunities to partner with the Anguilla Tourist Board, the academic and recreational benefits to be derived as well as the physical and social development aspects for Anguilla’s youth.
Mr. Hughes showed a brief video of two professional players involved in an actual pocket billiards championship tournament game and pointed out various strategies of the game to the audience.
Subsequent to the presentation, a match took place among pocket billiards enthusiasts. A high level of interest resulted in the formation of the Anguilla Pocket Billiards Association.
